Becoming Spiritually Healthy
You were created with an inner longing for relationship, for love. We all try to fill this longing by pursuing meaningful relationships with others. The reality is that others will always let us down, disapoint, hurt or leave us. So we continue to seek ways of filling this gap. Only ONE can fill this gap, this longing, it is the One who created the gap! It is the One who created you!
Your Creator, God, loves you very much. He created this earth and everything in it for you to enjoy and take care of. He has work for you to do, a purpose for you. Not just for today but forever! You are created as an eternal being - you will live forever.
That sounds amazing, doesn't it, but we have a problem: God is a holy (perfect in every way) being. He can only allow holiness into His presence. He created the earth to be a place of holiness a place He can live and work. He must remove all unholiness - imperfection from the earth. I am sure you wouldn't consider yourself as holy, or perfect in every way?! Even good people make mistakes, break their own rules, tell small fibs... Being good is not being holy. Good is not good enough. All imperfection must die.
So what? Are we destined to be removed from the earth? Tossed aside as imperfect? Well it is up to you!
God does not want to remove us from His planned perfect earth so He came up with a way for us to be "made holy". Remember He created you and He loves you! So here's His plan: Because unholiness must be punished by death, He decided to take our place! Yes God came to earth in the form of a man - Jesus! Jesus, being God was perfect in every way, holy! Because He was holy He did not deserve to die so he had the unique ability to die FOR someone else. Jesus Christ died to pay the price of death for your unholiness so that you could live the life God intended you to have forever. This is so amazing. This is true love! Greater love has no man than this, that he lays down His life for His friends!
So this is God's plan - where do you come in? Again because God is loving He is not going to force His plan on anyone. He simply offers it to you. So it's your choice. Will you pay for your own unholiness, the price is eternal death? Or will you accept the payment made by Jesus for you and receive eternal Life?
What's the catch?
